Zaphiro—The Perfect Cut Becomes Even More Flexible
ADVERTORIAL
The Zaphiro high-speed laser-cutting machine from Prima Industrie features linear motors and a rigid structure that together allow a maximum speed of 240 m/min., minimizing a fabricator’s production time and costs. An
innovative and unique feature of the machine: the Perfect Cut system, an intelligent system that allows real-time detection of cut quality and automatic correction of parameters, should quality differ from
the desired standards. The operator stores on the machine CNC a sample cut piece for each material and thickness—there’s no risk of production defects or waste.
“Efficiency and ecology have always been the main guidelines in product design and development,” explains Johannes Ulrich, 2D prod-
uct manager for Prima Finn-Power. “The Perfect Cut system results in highly efficient use of the machine and materials. Not only does it avoid scrap
and material waste, it also optimizes the use of the machine in unmanned operation. For example, you can be certain that during night shifts your machine will run to produce only effective parts.”
Also new with the Zaphiro cutting machine is the Prima Industrie 2D laser head. The head’s new F axis, with higher dynamics and
longer stroke, allows substantial cycle-time reduction and superior cutting quality. And the new cartridge design lens-change system is
extremely quick and easy-to-use.
More advantages afforded by the Zaphiro machine come thanks to Beam
Size Control (BSC) technology—the laser-beam diameter is adjusted to suit the material type and thickness to be cut. Flexibility, productivity and quality are thus further improved.
Along with the machine comes a new, robust sheetmetal supporting table, with more efficient fume exhaust and a new, faster pallet changer that fea- tures a smart system that adapts the transfer speed to the weight of the transported sheet.
Zaphiro is provided with the model P30L numerical control, manufactured within the Prima Group. Faster and more powerful, the new control is com- patible with all previous machine versions and with all Prima Industrie 2D machines, and includes a new, easy-to-use slim console with 17-in. touch screen.
For offline programming, users of the Zaphiro machine can employ the company’s Maestro-Libellula software, offering an effective and accurate nest- ing module, a Tables-on-Board (TOB) feature, an Integrated Virtual Machine feature and detailed and precise reporting.
Zaphiro machines are equipped with the company’s CV5000 laser, capable of cutting plate to 25 mm thick. Features include a magnetic support turbine, solid-state high-voltage power unit, servo-controlled gas mixing and a new zero-emission device.
As with all Prima Industrie flat-bed machines, Zaphiro can be integrated with automation systems, from the simplest sheetmetal loading/unloading system to the most complex FMS.
