a TruLaser 2030 laser-cutting machine from Trumpf Inc. The machine, slated to be fully operational by the end of January 2011, features integrated, automated load- unload equipment, and is rated for cutting mild steel to 3⁄4 in. thick, stainless to 3⁄8 in. and aluminum to 5⁄16 in.
Stamper/Fabricator Adds Two Robotic- Welding Cells
Five robotic-welding cells weren’t enough for German- town Tool & Machine Inc., Huntingdon Valley, PA—the firm had to go out and pur- chase two more. The metal stamper and sheetmetal fabrication shop, with 50 employees and a 55,000- sq.-ft. facility, acquired a pair of Fanuc six-axis robots partnered with Lincoln Elec-
tric PowerWave 455M arc- welding power supplies. Robots boast 65-in. reach and 35-lb. payload.
Wisconsin Stamper Adds Fineblanking to its Resume
Jagemann Stamping Co., Manitowoc, WI, a manufac- turer of deep-drawn and pro- gressive metal stampings, has expanded its service offerings to include fineblank- ing capabilities. Components stamped with fineblanking tooling and hydraulic press- es are noted for fully sheared, crisp edges. The process is well utilized in the home hardware, medical and automotive industries, and Jagemann expects to leverage its fineblanking capabilities to expand into other industries as well.
Bunting Magnetics Launches European HQ
Berkhamsted, England, is the location of a new manufacturing and sales center for Bunting Magnet- ics Co., Newton, KS. The UK location will manage sales for the company in the UK, European Union and African continent. Bunting manufac- tures magnetic materials and components, magnetic separation equipment, material-handling equip- ment and printing cylinders.
Olympic Steel Planning $25 Million Project
National steel-service center Olympic Steel, Cleve- land, OH, announced plans to purchase a 150,000-sq.- ft. facility at U.S. Steel’s Gary Works location in Gary, IN. It will outfit the facility to
add 150,000 to 180,000 new tons of high-quality tempered sheet capacity, so it can better serve its cus- tomers in the Chicago mar- ket. The facility will house a new four-high temper mill (from I2S, LLC), a Butech cut-to-length line, and sever- al pieces of plate-burning equipment. The new mill will allow Olympic’s temper mills in Cleveland and Iowa to expand their respective sales territories, according to company officials.
Wisconsin Fab Shop Adds Waterjet Cutting
Metal fabricator National Metals, DeForest, WI, has added a 60,000-PSI water- jet-cutting machine to its shop to manufacture its own specialty aluminum and stainless-steel products
