Stamtec Connects with Link Systems
Press builder Stamtec, Inc., Manchester, TN, announced that its presses now will include the Link Systems’ Omnilink 5100- MPC press control as stan- dard equipment. The con- trol features a color touchscreen and displays all system information in Eng- lish or Spanish.
Its enhanced diagnostics capabilities include 64 con- trol inputs, programmable limit switch outputs, and output relays configurable for several functions. Stamtec also can retrofit its existing presses with the Omnilink control.
S.B. Whistler Acquires Die Shop, Plans to Relocate Soon
S.B. Whistler & Sons, Inc., Akron, NY, a manufac- turer of modular dies for sheetmetal punching and notching, has acquired Phinney Tool and Die, Medi- na, NY, a manufacturer of tooling, dies and press lines for heat-transfer coil pro- duction, particularly fin dies for air-conditioning equip- ment. Whistler plans to relocate its operations to Phinney’s 30,000-sq.-ft. plant during 2010.
Ohio Stamper/Fabricator Grows Via Acquisition
Metal stamper and fabri- cator Defiance Metal Prod- ucts (DMP), Defiance, OH, has acquired Medalist Laserfab, Inc., a privately held metal-fabrication com- pany in Oshkosh, WI. The acquisition expands DMP’s presence into the upper Midwest, and provides Medalist’s customer base access to DMP’s network of manufacturing plants in Ohio as well as in Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Texas and China.
Medalist’s largest cus- tomer is specialty-vehicle manufacturer Oshkosh Corp., which supplies the U.S. Army with all-terrain vehicles.

Illinois Stamper Adds Deep-Draw Hydraulic-Press Line
Performance Stamping Co., Carpentersville, IL, has added a new deep-draw hydraulic-press line to its 80,000-sq.-ft. facility. The firm offers press capacity to 600 tons and can draw to a depth of 5 in. It also offers offshore tooling and produc- tion management.

has a capacity of
6 tons, coil diameter
to 70 in. and width to
30 in. The line also includes a lifting platform, six-roller straightening machine, threading aid and coil-loop bridge. The roll feed includes a perforation- control unit that allows the programming of different feed lengths.
Tube Fabricator Adds New Bender, Inspection Machine
Harco Metal Products, Tempe, AZ, a supplier of fabricated tubular compo- nents and assemblies, has upgraded its capabilities by acquiring a Wafios BMZ 42 tube bender and an Accurex TubeInspect HD inspection machine. The Wafios bender forms tube to 12.7-mm dia. by 1-mm wall thickness; its bending head enables left and right bending opera- tions in one clamping, for the production of complicat- ed 2D and 3D workpieces in one pass.
The Accurex 3D tube-
measurement system employs eight overhead cameras for quick, automat- ed inspection and includes software that provides a complete analysis of tube shape and profile to deliver direct feedback to CNC bending machines for quick correction of out-of-specifi- cation parts.

Custom metal fabricator D&S Mfg., Black River Falls, WI, has installed a new cus- tom wire-mesh belt blaster, an ES-2050 model from Pangborn, Fairburn, GA.
