Part-Revolution Controls
Rockford Systems, Inc., Rockford, IL, introduces the SSC-1500 dual-microprocessor-based control sys- tem and the SSC-3000 solid-state press-automation control system, both of which comply with OSHA reg- ulations and ANSI safety standards.
The SSC-1500—with a large, user-friendly key- pad/display—finds use on part-revolution-clutch power presses and press brakes. Redundant inputs from devices such as palm buttons, foot switches and light curtains provide control reliability.
The SSC-3000 control, also for use on part-revolu-
tion-clutch mechanical power presses, is a rack-mounted modular control with expand- able options that allow a metalformer to add or delete features as requirements change. Rockford Systems: 800/922-7533; www.rockfordsystems.com
Vacuum Suction Cups for Hot-Forming Applications
Schmalz Inc., Raleigh, NC, introduces its HT2 vacuum suction cups designed for handling sheetmetal during the hot-forming process, to replace the use of mechan- ical grippers. The suction cups, of a silicone-free material, resist temperatures to 480 F. Compared to using mechanical grippers, metalformers using the cups will
enjoy improved safety and productivity, shortened cycle times, and quick tool assembly and adjustment. The cups also allow better handling of uneven workpieces, since mechanical grippers only grasp parts at the edge.
The firm also has expanded its series of vacuum ejectors with the SEAC-RP
model, a decentralized vacuum ejector with an integrated air-saving function. Short gripping and blowoff times allow short cycle times in automated operations. And, the unit’s compact design and lightweight aluminum construction allow its use in robotic applications. Schmalz Inc.: 919/713-0880; www.schmaltz.com
