 Stainless/Aluminum Supplier Orders Blanking Line
Guy Metals, Blaine, MN, a warehousing and processing service center that spe- cializes in stainless steels and aluminum alloys, has purchased a new precision blank- ing line from Red Bud Industries, Red Bud, IL. The line, scheduled to begin oper- ating during the summer of 2009, will process coils to 40,000 lb. at widths to 72 in. and material thickness to 0.375 in., and will produce blanks with length tolerance to ±0.005 in. Included is a heavy-gauge peeler breaker, dual Herr-Voss levelers, flat- ness-inspection table, PVC and paper applicator and automatic part diverter.

Blank Stacker Headed to Aluminum Toll Processor
In December 2008, Aluminum Blanking Co., Pontiac, MI, became the proud new owner of an aluminum blank-stacking system designed to protect the surface-sen- sitive materials that it processes—aluminum and stainless-steel alloys blanked on seven lines with cut-to-length capabilities.
The new stacker, from Atlas Technologies, Inc., Fenton, MI, processes coil into stacks of blanks in sizes to 500 by 110 in. with stack weight to 30,000 lb. It can process blanks into two stacking stations with lift tables that can operate independently. A weight-verification system allows for material accountability—once weighed, a blank stack proceeds to a dual wrapping station. The station boasts a lift and transfer unit for palletizing each wrapped stack, which then proceed to a second wrapping sta-
tion where pallet and stack are wrapped together, ensuring safe transit.

Stripco Inc., a processor of flat-rolled steel products, announced plans to expand its facility in Mishawaka, IN, by adding a new 64,000-sq.-ft. building to house a new master coil slitter and shape-correction cluster leveler. The new slitter, from Braner USA, Inc., Schiller Park, IL, will process steel 0.035 to 0.375 in. thick on coils to 72 in. wide and weighing as much as 60,000 lb.
