Reuel Inc., Goldsboro, NC, installed the latest ultra-high-pressure waterjet- cutting machine from Jet Edge, Inc., St. Michael, MN. Reuel manufactures insulating components for the electrical power-equip- ment industry, specializing in molded switchgear com- ponents, bushings and
other products for medium- voltage electrical-distribu- tion equipment. It also manufactures traction- power substations for mass- transit authorities and large-scale contractors.

Prima North America, Inc., Chicopee, MA, deliv- ered an Optimo 3D laser- cutting machine to Northern Manufacturing Co., Oak Harbor, OH. Optimo is Prima’s largest five-axis 3D machine, for cutting as well as welding. Northern Mfg. is a precision fabricator of
custom sheetmetal parts and assemblies, specializ- ing in stainless-steel fabri- cations for the automotive, farming, appliance and energy industries.

Metals Adds Laser
Cutting to its Resume
United Performance Met- als, Hamilton, OH, a suppli- er of specialty stainless- steel and high-temperature alloys, has forged a joint venture that allows it to include laser-beam cutting on its list of value-added processing capabilities. Its partner company operates three laser-cutting machines—two Trumpf models and a machine from Cincinnati Inc. Other servic- es from UPM include cut- to-length, leveling, shear- ing, slitting, edging, sawing and waterjet cutting.
Wisconsin Firm Turns
Tax Credit Toward
Workforce Development
D&S Manfuacturing, Black River Falls, WI, recently received word from Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle that it had been deemed eligible for a $250,000 state income-tax credit through the Western Wisconsin Technology Zone. Eligible companies earn tax credits through capital investments, job creation and any increase in property taxes. D&S is in the midst of a $6.4 million facility expansion plan, and pledges to use its tax credit on workforce development. The company is a custom manufacturer of large-scale parts and assemblies for
customers including Cater- pillar, Oshkosh Corp. and The Trane Co.
Tubular-Parts Fabricator

Equipment
Tubular-parts maker Fraser Steel, Albertville, MN, acquired a large-capac- ity rotary draw bender to enable the firm to bend large pieces of round and square tubing as well as solid-steel bars. Finished, bent parts primarily will be used in cab enclosures for heavy equipment used in the agricultural and road- construction markets.
Fraser Steel also offers laser tube cutting, machin- ing, rapid prototyping and robotic welding.
Bachman Acquires
Machining Center to
Bolster Production-
Machining Capabilities
The CNC machining facility of Bachman Machine Co., St. Louis, MO, soon will welcome the addition of a new CNC double-column vertical machining center. Bachman will use the machine to provide added capacity to its tool and die operation, as well as support and grow its production- machining operations. The machining center, a DCV series 4025 model from Tai- wanese builder YCM, fea- tures a 161- by 94-in. table and a maximum allowable load of 44,000 lb.
Bachman Machine is a manufacturer of metal stampings, progressive dies, plastic injection-molded parts and production CNC machined parts.
