 Tech Update
Fast, Space-Efficient Extended-Reach Robot Excels in Tight Production Spaces
enabling fabricators to
improve inspection and
measurement produc-
tivity by 20 percent. As
explained to MetalForm-
ing during IMTS in September, the new laser trackers offer large-volume 3D meas- urement to 80 m, streamlining processes and reducing inspection-cycle times while ensuring complete confidence in the results.
The new Vantage Max enables manu- facturers to increase throughput while maintaining high inspection accuracy with a 3D metrology option. The trackers max- imize six degrees of freedom measurement capabilities via an optional 6Probe, enabling precise measurement of hidden areas and small features. The 6Probe meets the dynamic-measurement, speed and accuracy requirements of challenging industrial applications. With kinematic self-identifying styli, users quickly can change probing tips and measure without any recalibration, and measure hidden areas outside of the tracker's line of sight
The Motoman Robotics Division of Yaskawa America, Inc. has introduced its extended-reach Model GP8L robot, promising extremely fast per- formance in a compact footprint.
Put the six-axis robot to work in applications such as high- speed bin picking, assembly, material handling and machine tending.
The robot’s long-reach, slim-
body design provides a broad
working envelope and the
ability to delve deeply into
tight workspaces, and a
wide wrist-motion range
eliminates interference. This,
combined with fast axis speeds and accel- eration capabilities, improves application flexibility for a variety of industrial tasks.
Installation is quick and efficient via a single cable that connects the manip-
ulator to the controller. Cables and air lines route through the robot base to the upper arm to improve cable life, enhance safety and reduce
teaching time.
The GP8L features an IP54 body, an
8-kg payload capacity, 1636-mm horizontal reach and 2894-mm vertical reach. It can be floor-, wall-, tilt- or ceiling-mounted. Motoman Robotics Division of Yaskawa America, Inc.: www.motoman.com
