heat treat and age parts in a single cycle. And, its Uniform Rapid Cooling capability reportedly minimizes thermal distortion and nonuniform grain growth, producing fin- ished parts with optimal mate-
rial properties. The press fea- tures a hot work zone of 26-in. dia. by 69 in. tall.
Flame Spray SpA reportedly installed the press at its facility in Morra De Sanctis, in South- ern Italy, in September 2020.
After an unprecedented year of event cancellations around the world due to the coronavirus pandemic, the FABTECH Mexico Event Part- ners (PMA, AWS, FMA, SME and CCAI) are focused on the future and looking ahead to the 2021 event, set to take place May 4-6 at Cintermex in Monterrey, Mexico. In prepara- tion for the 2021 event, the partners have hired a new exhibition management com- pany, Meetings Factory, to oversee show operations, logistics and marketing. Says Gary Konarska, CEO of the
Facilities
American Welding Society: “We believe Meetings Factory has a team that will bring new ideas and positive changes to the event, which will benefit attendees and exhibitors and help us build our global brand presence in Mexico.”
Meetings Factory is a Mexi- co-based organization with extensive experience produc- ing and managing other large- scale events, such as Expo Plasticos, Residuos Expo, Expo Seguridad Mexico, Mexi- co Safety Expo and COATech Expo. Learn more at fabtech- mexico.com.
United Performance Metals Adds 8-kw Fiber Laser
Bilsing Adds Laser Metal Deposition Repair Services for Aero Components and Stamping Dies
Accurate Machine and Tool (AM&T), Middleville, MI, a sup- plier of stamped parts to the automotive industry, received 2019 Top Performing Supplier and Supplier of the Year awards from Cosma Body Assembly Michigan, a division of Magna. AM&T received a perfect score of 100 percent for its performance, with zero delivery and quality incidents during the entire year.
This is the first year that Cosma Body Assembly Michi- gan has issued supplier awards, which measure per-
formance based on number of pieces shipped, quality and delivery incidents, and suppli- er responsiveness. AM&T has supplied stampings for auto- motive-body frame assemblies to Magna for nearly three years, and in 2019, it supplied more than one million pieces to Magna.
AM&T is a family-owned metal stamping and sub- assembly shop serving Tier One automotive producers, and companies operating in the commercial and residen- tial appliance industry.
Bilsing Automation, Atten- dorn, Germany, has added laser metal deposition (LMD), an additive manufacturing (AM) process also known as laser cladding, to its service offerings from its facility in Turkey, which holds several aviation-industry certifica- tions. The facility can apply the LMD process for the repair of aviation components such as landing-gear bearing rings, as well as automotive stamp- ing and casting dies. Com- pared to traditional cladding processes such as thermal spray or arc welding, LMD, say
company officials, provides a better metallurgical bond, enhanced corrosion protec- tion, a smaller heat-affected zone and less distortion.
In this AM process, materi- al is added to worn or corrod- ed surfaces or new features to accommodate design changes. Metal powder feeds into a laser beam, which scans across the work surface to deposit the powder material in a precise web-type forma- tion. The process can modify or repair components or tool- ing without having to repro- duce the entire part.
Take a Virtual Tour of Beckwood Press Co.
Italy’s Flame Spray SpA Adds Hot Isostatic Press
Beckwood Press Co., St. Louis, MO, a manufacturer of custom hydraulic and servo- electric presses and automa- tion systems, as well as the Triform line of precision form- ing equipment, has complet- ed a comprehensive video tour of its corporate head- quarters and manufacturing facility, including spotlights on several recently built presses. The tour, beckwood- press.com/education- videos/facility-tour-2020, fea-
tures a look at Beckwood’s 40,000+-sq.-ft. production floor and 10,000+ sq. ft. of office and meeting space, and features its heavy crane capacity with extended ceil- ing heights. Included is a 4800-sq.-ft. machinery- demonstration area, and a look at forming equipment in operation--including five 30- ton servo-electric presses, a 200-ton sheet stretch-form- ing machine, and a 2500-ton hydraulic forming press.
Quintus Technologies announced that it has provid- ed a hot isostatic press (HIP) to Italy-based thermal-spray- coatings specialist Flame Spray SpA, to respond to growing demand for the den-
sification and heat treatment process as AM increasingly takes hold in aerospace-parts production.
