GF AgieCharmilles Supports Manufacturing-Research Collaborative
Among the newest industry support- ers of the Virginia-based Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM) is GF AgieCharmilles, a provider of EDM, milling and laser-texturing machines. The firm has supplied CCAM with a model FO 550 sp die-sinking EDM system, which includes dynamic process control and a double thermostabilization system designed to prevent the impact of temperature variations on accuracy. CCAM, which operates out of a new 60,000-sq.-ft. research facility in Prince George County, VA, is a research-based
collaboration between the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, Virginia State Uni- versity and manufacturing companies worldwide.
Electrolux Installs
New Lube-Mixing and Reclamation System in Memphis
Industrial Innovations, Wyoming, MI, has installed its Double Pro-Mix 5 lubri- cating system in the pressroom of the new Electrolux North American Cooking Products plant in Memphis, TN, slated to start production in early 2013. The lubri- cant-mixing system, which can mix two different lubricants simultaneously, will feed seven Spra-Rite pedestal lubricant- application units. Included is a lubricant- recycling system for filtering dirt parti- cles and eliminating tramp oils.
High-Speed Notching Press Boosts Motor-Lamination Production
The McGregor Metalworking Compa- nies, Springfield, OH, has installed a new high-speed notching press at its Rose City Manufacturing plant, to increase motor-lamination production capacity. McGregor supplies single-piece lamina- tion-based motor cores and segmented laminations for large-diameter motors.
Two Coil-Fed Press Lines Headed to Lear Brazil
Two compact coil lines (SpaceMaster units from Coe Press Equipment, Ster- ling Heights, MI) are on the way to Lear Brazil, accompanying a pair of Stamtec presses equipped for progressive-die stamping of automotive components. The coil lines, which unwind, straighten and feed coil stock, can handle stock from 0.030 to 0.156 in. thick and 3 to 32 in. wide.
