Jon Jenson, Rest in Peace
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jon E. Jenson, former president of the Precision Metal- forming Association (1975-2000). Jenson was born in Madison, WI, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Jour- nalism. He completed post-graduate stud- ies at the Universities of Frankfurt and Cologne, in Germany, and spent 2 years at the Naval Officer Candidate School.
During his tenure at PMA, Jenson directed the growth of the association to a membership of more than 1600 com- panies. He also initiated the PMA Educa- tional Foundation, established and man- aged the association’s subsidiary, PMA Services, Inc., and served as publisher of MetalForming magazine.
Under Jenson’s leadership, PMA became the first and only U.S. trade association to be registered to ISO 9002 (in 2000). He also helped lead PMA to prominence in the International Council of Sheet Metal Presswork Asso- ciations (ICOSPA), which in 2003 bestowed upon Jon its highest honor, the ICOSPA Silver Medal.
Until 2005, Jenson served as chair- man of the Consuming Industries Trade Action Coalition, a national organization seeking trade-law reform. And, he sat on the Industry Trade Advisory Committee for Automotive Equipment and Capital Goods until its discontinuation in 2010.
Prior to joining PMA, Jenson served for 16 years as director of marketing and technical services of the Cleveland, OH-based Forging Industry Association, and as executive director of the Forging Industry Educational and Research Foun- dation. He was editor and publisher of Forging Topics magazine, and authored the Forging Industry Handbook.
In retirement, when he wasn’t bowl- ing, hunting or fishing, Jenson enjoyed spending time with his wife Jeannette and their children and grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made in Jenson’s honor to the PMA Educational Foundation, 6363 Oak Tree Blvd., Inde- pendence, OH 44131.
