Promising to deliver a convenient ‘one-stop shop’ where metal formers and fabricators can meet with worldclass suppliers, evaluate the latest manufacturing technology, and identify tools to help drive productivity gain and increase profits, FABTECH Mexico returns to Monterrey in May. Expo hours: Tuesday, May 7-Thursday, May 9, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

FABTECH Mexico May 7-9, 2024Mexico recently emerged (per data released by the U.S. Census Bureau) as the leading supplier of manufactured products to the United States, overtaking China. Responsible for this trend: nearshoring into industrialized areas such as Nuevo León, Coahuila and the Bajío regions; the expansion of existing production lines; and a significant increase in Foreign Direct Investment in manufacturing in the country. All of this bodes well as FABTECH Mexico approaches, the number-one tradeshow that connects suppliers with high-profile buyers in the field. FABTECH Mexico brings together more than 300 brands presenting the latest in technology, machinery and solutions to more than 10,000 attendees from Mexico and Latin America. Attendees will find innovative solutions, meet the experts and acquire first-hand knowledge about the metal forming, fabricating, welding and finishing industries.

FABTECH Mexico attendees, primarily interested in metal forming and fabricating, welding, and surface finishing, see this event as an unparalleled opportunity to update their knowledge banks, seek technology solutions and establish business connections.

Strength in Numbers

Five U.S. industry associations support the exhibition: Precision Metalforming Association, Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, American Welding Society, and the Chemical Coaters Association International. Show attendees will find equipment for a variety of processes including stamping, bending, cutting, welding and assembly, as well as plenty of exhibits focused on robotics, maintenance, engineering and design.

This year’s exhibition promises to surpass the success of the 2023 edition of FABTECH Mexico, held in Mexico City and attended by more than 13,000 industry professionals and with more than 400 exhibiting companies. Says Doug Trout, PMA director of exhibitions-FABTECH:

FABTECH Mexico May 7-9, 2024“This year in Monterrey, FABTECH Mexico is wall-to-wall with exhibits, setting new records for the number of exhibitors and square footage of exhibit space. We expect that attendance will follow this and are anticipating a great turnout. In addition, several exhibitors from the METALFORM Pavilion are participating in a dynamic program designed to bring them face to face with qualified buyers in attendance, for one-on-one meetings. This program is a free service and part of our commitment to exhibitors to help them achieve their lead-generation goals at the show.”

The program of one-on-one meetings (encuentro de negocios in Spanish) allows attendees to optimize their time at the show by scheduling meetings with specific exhibitors of interest. When registering to attend the show, they select the products and technologies that they’d like to evaluate or purchase, which days they’ll attend the show, and the hours that they’re available. They also can share their available cap-ex budget if they’d like. The system then matches the attendee with the appropriate exhibitors participating in the program to schedule one-on-one meetings.

“This is an exciting program,” Trout adds, “which we rolled it out in seed form in 2023 with great success.”

Learn Beyond the Show Floor

In addition to the breadth of technology visible on the show floor, FABTECH Mexico offers an array of conference sessions available to attendees. With targeted technical, operational, economic and managerial sessions, attendees will discover the solutions they need to improve productivity and increase profits. Network with peers, learn from top industry experts, exchange best practices and explore the latest technology and advancements.

One great educational opportunity, brought by the American Welding Society (AWS), is the Emmet A. Craig Resistance Welding School, presented by AWS’ Resistance Welding Manufacturers Association. Running May 8-9 and presented by industry experts, this intensive two-day course covers the fundamentals of resistance welding (RW). The course is designed for staff performing a variety of roles, including welding and production managers and supervisors, engineers and technicians, senior and setup operators, trainers, and educators. Students gain a solid understanding of the fundamentals of RW, from theory to application requirements and equipment used in various RW processes.

PMA Mexico Kickoff Event

Lastly, on Wednesday, May 8, PMA will host a district-planning meeting. Yes, it’s finally happening: PMA is establishing a Mexico district and seeks passionate PMA members to make it happen!

All PMA member companies that want to participate as volunteer leadership are invited to attend this meeting. Attendees will help to set forth the direction and leadership required to establish a thriving PMA presence in Mexico, focused on promoting membership benefits, providing workforce-development projects and conducting industry advocacy.

Meeting time and place: 8:30-10:30 a.m. (before the show), in Cintermex Salon 101. Please fill out this online form, if you’re interested in attending.  MF
