Nine-Press Walking-Beam Transfer Line Defines Flexibility at Great Lakes Metal Stamping
January 3, 2013The Cusseta, AL plant of Great Lakes Metal Stamping minimized its overall project cost and optimized flexibility when it opted for this transfer line rather than a huge transfer press, to produce three brake-booster stampings. With the two transfers and a shuttle, they can run the line as a nine-press transfer (shown here) or any combination less than nine. It can run as two separate transfers (five-press and four-press) or as a five-press transfer with four hand-fed presses.
