 Unified Online Platform
for Fabricating-Data Management
Esab Welding & Cutting Products has migrated all elements of its Digital Solutions offering to a unified platform powered by Microsoft Azure IoT and utilizing the ThingWorx Industrial Innovation Platform from PTC. The move provides a seamless user experience across the entire fabrication workflow and enables the system to seamlessly share data between components on the back end, according to company officials. Esab’s suite of digital services links plate optimization, cutting, welding, gas management and quality assurance.
These digitally linked service offerings include Columbus III CAD/CAM nesting software for mechanized cutting, CutCloud for cutting-productivity data, WeldCloud and WeldCloud Universal Connector for welding productivity, and WeldQAS and WeldScanner for real-time monitoring and recording of arc characteristics as well as various gas- management systems. These offerings are designed to drive continuous improvement in traceability, documentation, asset management, productivity and quality.
“Products such as WeldCloud, WeldScanner and WeldQAS automate what is a tedious and costly process that also is prone to human error,” says Ludvig Enlund, Esab Digital Solutions general manager. “With the need for documentation and traceability growing, especially in the power, wind tower, offshore, pressure vessel, shipbuilding and other industries, connected solutions help fabricators use time more productively.”

Press Builder Introduces Industry 4.0 Integration
Stamping press builder Seyi Machinery has introduced its Intelligent Manufacturing Solution. SIMS integrates the press, production lines, and factory management systems to achieve different layers of smart manufacturing, smart production applications and smart management applications. Using flexible and highly expansive software modules, Seyi presses monitor the machine status and signal the early warning to boost up the best production efficiency and reduce unexpected downtime.
SIMS also decides and executes functions in the process of feed, transport and replace production dies after the customers receive an order. Finally, via the internet, SIMS integrates different categories of production line signal with overall effectiveness
and production status obtained by machine controllers and sensors. This solution not only provides management information of production reports and overall equipment effectiveness, but also integrates systems such as ERP and MES.
Wireless Remote Control for Fabrication Applications
The flexibility of a wireless remote con- trol system allows the user freedom to move around the equipment without a connecting cable, which may be damaged by welding and cutting processes. Wireless remote controls provided by Harbach fea- ture rugged design and high-grade auxiliary function switches. An access code system ensures that the control only operates the intended equipment.
Designed to minimize power consump- tion, these controls employ long-life bat- teries, and battery life, along with other system diagnostics such as signal strength and warning symbols are presented in a graphical display. Harbach is at FABTECH in booth B35048.

Industry 4.0-Ready Fume Extraction
At FABTECH in booth B31074, Neder- man exhibits and demonstrates its thermal fume extraction products for the welding and thermal cutting industry, featuring Industry 4.0-ready components and con- trols. The company’s new-generation FMC dust collector safely handles fume and dust associated with multisource metal fabrication processes. It features a pro- prietary cartridge filter design, including nanofiber filter media; simple filter main- tenance; and an enhanced cleaning system that reportedly increases system capacity, decreases emissions and reduces oper- ational costs. Smart components and controls monitor collector performance through Nederman Insight, a cloud-based, filtration-specific IIoT solution—visit the booth for interactive demonstrations.
