The certification enables the integration of Lantek Expert software in Omax waterjet-cutting machines.

Weld Mold Earns 2017 ASM Historical Landmark Award
ASM International has presented Weld Mold Co. with the prestigious ASM Historical Landmark Award for 2017, which recognizes Weld Mold for developing and innovating a flood- welding process for weld-die repair. Matt Kiilunen, who found- ed the company in 1945, was personally responsible for inno- vating the process, which increased die life while reducing customer costs, according to ASM International officials. The award recognizes sites and events that have played a promi- nent role in the discovery, development and growth of metals, metalworking and all engineered metals.

Oberg Expands with X-L Engineering Acquisition Oberg Industries, Freeport,
Solar Atmospheres, Inc., Hermitage, PA, has added a $1.8-million vacuum furnace designed to quench with argon at 10 bar using a 600- hp variable-speed motor run- ning at 460 V. The goal of the massive quench system by Solar Manufacturing, Inc., Souderton, PA, is to quench larger batches of power-gen- eration castings by increas- ing the cooling rate and elimi- nating the supplemental use of helium. The furnace incor- porates Solar Manufactur- ing’s SolarVac 5000 control system, which allows for com- plete process automation.

A 20-year company vet- eran, Tolliver previously man- aged the company’s southern United States, Mexico, Cen- tral America, and European sales networks. In his new role, he will oversee world- wide sales of all Amada Miy- achi America products, including resistance welding, laser welding, laser marking and micromachining, hermet- ic sealing, hot bar bonding and advanced manufacturing systems.
