“Our customers,” Taylor continues, “not only gain more control during the delivery process itself, they also can improve profitability and reduce costs throughout the entire supply chain.”

Bermo Releases
New Quoting Software for Customers
Falcon Steel, Fort Worth, TX, has debuted a material- management program designed to give customers greater flexibility and shorter lead times between order and delivery. A producer of steel structures for power-delivery systems, Falcon Steel report- edly is the only manufacturer and fabricator of extra-high- voltage lattice towers, steel poles and substation struc- tures based in the United States.
According to Jim Taylor, CEO of Falcon Steel, the pro- gram makes it possible to deliver products within 3 to 4 weeks of a request, far shorter than the industry’s typical 16 to 20 weeks.
Bermo Inc., Minneapolis, MN, has released its F.R.E.D. (First-of-its-kind Rapid Esti- mate Delivery) quotation soft- ware, created inhouse to pro- vide automated quotations for its OEM customer base. The program links customers’ CAD models to suit Bermo’s manu- facturing processes, which include laser cutting, metal stamping, forming, welding and assembly. With the new software, customers can expect to receive quotations within minutes.
This spring, updates to the F.R.E.D. software (the name also is a nod to the company’s late founder, Fred Berdass) will give customers the ability to perform online preliminary quotations before having to send in requests.
“By having the right prod- uct ready to go at the right time,” says Taylor, “our pro- gram gives utilities much more flexibility in their ability to forecast, order and replen- ish product inventory.
