Installed in February 2014, the model 1530 Jetcutting Center has since provided service from prototype to pro- duction. With its laser-cutting machine employing a 4 by 8-ft. bed, Perfection opted for a 5 by 10-ft. bed on its water- jet cutter to increase the company’s cutting-area capabilities and allow extra flexibility in nesting parts.
The waterjet-cutting machine pur- chased by Perfection also includes Omax’ Intelli-Trax drive technology, with the drive system fully enclosed inside coated steel covers, making the machine well-suited for harsh envi- ronments. The Maxiem 1530 comes standard with the company’s Intelli- Max software suite, which can calculate tool-path velocity through measure- ment of more than 1000 points/in.,
The new waterjet-cutting Machine at Perfection Fabricators, Elyria, OH, allows the company to work with various mate- rials of varying thicknesses, greatly increasing productivity on current jobs and opening up business in assembly. Here, the third generation of the found- ing Ennes family, Parker, operates the equipment.
again, Jim said he didn’t know how we made it without the laser for so many years,” Gerken says. “So in 2013 when we began to discuss adding a waterjet machine, Jim was on board, making it an easier sale.”
Why a Waterjet Cutter?
“There were materials that we just could not cut with the laser,” says Gerken. “We knew nothing about waterjet cutting, but we knew that we could use that process to cut them. We had a market for it...always some odd job requests using plastic or glass, and thicker than 0.5 in.”
As these requests increased, the company performed its due diligence, and decided on the Maxiem from Omax, which can cut parts from many materials, including metal alloys, plastic, glass, ceramics, stone and composites,
