Effective June 1, David Winch assumes the role of chief executive officer and vice chairman of the board of directors for press-technology company Nidec Minster, Min- ster, OH. John Winch will be stepping down as CEO and president, but will continue to assist in a consulting role. Steve Gruber will assume his new position as president and chief operating officer, report- ing to David Winch. Gruber will be responsible for Nidec Min- ster’s activities in the machin- ery, automation, midwest/ operations and services divi- sions as well as human resources. He will focus on growth in new and existing markets, as well as new prod- ucts and continuous opera- tional improvements. Ron Arling will serve as executive vice president and chief finan- cial officer, reporting to David Winch. He will continue overall responsibility for internal com- pany functions focusing on managing the financial well- ness, compliance and informa- tion technology. In addition, Arling will assume overall responsibility for mergers and acquisitions along with inte- gration of new companies. Rick Schwartz becomes vice president of Nidec Minster’s Machinery and Automation divisions, continuing his focus on sales, engineering, market- ing and purchasing for those divisions. Managing director Tim Fletcher assumes responsibility for the Services division.

Expanding CB Fabricating Nominated for Award by Indiana County Chamber of Commerce
Sheetmetal fabricator CB Fabricating, Inc., Anderson, IN, has been selected as a finalist for the Small Business of the Year Award, presented by the Madison County Chamber (MCC). The award honors a Madison County-owned and MCC member company that has been in business five or more years; has fewer than 100 employees; and has excelled in visible growth and achievements, adherence to the company’s brand promise, and investment in the commu- nity both through business and community support.
Crotts and Saunders to Represent Hurco’s CNC Machines in the Carolinas and Virginia
Throughout the past year, CB Fabricating, a manufactur- er of a variety of products including custom industrial machines, subassemblies, welded fabrications and preci- sion-fabricated parts, has sig- nificantly expanded its equip- ment roster and facilities space while hiring additional full-time employees to serve new customer contracts. It added 6000 sq. ft. of space, for a total of 17,000 sq. ft., to accommodate an Amada FO MII 3015 NT laser-cutting cell and an Amada press brake. The additions have expanded the company’s production capacity by 75 percent and allowed nearly around-the- clock production. With the expanded capacity, CB Fabri- cating was able to hire addi- tional employees, adding a second shift to its workforce with more hires planned for 2015.
Hurco Companies, Inc., Indianapolis, IN, announced that Crotts & Saunders, Win- ston-Salem, NC, has been selected as the exclusive dis- tributor for Hurco CNC- machine sales and service in North Carolina, South Caroli- na, Virginia and eastern West Virginia. This includes product lines of CNC mills and lathes that are “especially valuable for high-mix/small-batch shops where minimizing setup time and maximizing chip time are critical in order to increase profit margins,” says Joe Braun, general manager of Hurco North America.
ABB Robotics, Auburn Hills, MI, has developed a Customer Certification program where customer employees can take the classes necessary to become a Certified Robot Maintenance Technician and/or Certified Robot Pro- grammer. Instruction, hands- on training, and qualification assessments are conducted at each of the ABB US Robot- ics training facilities in North America, with the program tar- geted to engineers, techni- cians and programmers who work with robots.

Red Bud Industries, Red Bud, IL, has received an order for a precision multi-blanking line from Magic Coil Products, LLC, Butler, IN. The new line will be capable of processing coils to 50,000 lb. at widths to 72 in. and sheet thicknesses to 0.140 in. It features Red Bud’s precision grip-feed sys- tem and CNC-programmable slitter. This combination of machines will allow Magic Coil
The curriculum is offered in five application areas: arc welding, spot welding, laser cutting, material handling and paint. Classes are taught by certified ABB instructors, sup- ported by comprehensive course materials. Certification in each area is awarded after successful completion of all course work and a cumulative, online final exam.
