  Safety Update
 Wet Collector for Combustible Dust
says ASSE president Trish Ennis. “Last year’s award competition drew creative nominations from organizations spanning the globe, so we’re excited to see what safe- ty ideas will be submitted this time around.”
Micro Air HydroMax dust collectors from Micro Air Clean Air Systems, Wichita, KS, are designed to address the risk of dust explosions in manufacturing plants, and related OSHA and NFPA regulations. These new HydroMax wet collectors feature engineered water streams to drop out and filter the combustible dust, con- taining it in the bottom of the collector for safe removal at necessary intervals.
Submissions for the award should high- light a workplace challenge and an employ- ee’s unique solution, which either was developed or implemented within the last 5 yr. Benefits associated with the innovation may include elimination or reduction of haz- ards, improved safety knowledge or effi- ciency improvements.
Options include a downdraft-table attachment, vacuum attachment, 99.97-percent DOP (dispersed oil particulate) HEPA after-filter and powered sump fan. www.microaironline.com
A panel of industry experts will consider each submitted project for its safety and management benefits, and the potential for applying the innovation across multiple programs or sites. ASSE members and non- members are eligible for the award, and nominations can be submitted by safety managers or employees on behalf of themselves or other individuals.
Earn Recognition for Your Innovative Safety Idea
Nominations are now open for the 2015 Award for Innovation in Occupational Safety Man- agement. For the second year, Cintas and the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) are teaming up to sponsor the award, seeking to uncover the world’s most innova- tive workplace-safety solutions. To help stir the pot, they’re offering a $3000 grand prize.

  VACUUM CUPS CAN’T HANDLE
HOLEY SHEETS
LIKE A TRANSPORTER®
TRANSPORTER® LOW PROFILE MAGNETS
Transporter® Low Profile (TPLP) magnets for End-of-Arm Tooling are a direct replacement for vacuum cups that excel at increasing line speeds while reducing costs, downtime and shop air use. Vacuum cups cannot compare with the TPLP’s long performance life or their ability to pick up and hold odd shaped or perforated steel parts without shifting or dropping.
EFFICIENT – Uses up to 95% less air than vacuum cups RELIABLE – Positively holds steel parts - no dropping or shifting LONG LIFE – 1 million cycle FMEA tested & passed (SAE J-1739) VERSATILE – Grasps odd shaped or perforated steel parts
