Adding to its machine-tool business segment, Quality Products Inc. (QPI), Columbus, OH, has acquired Fenn LLC, Newington, CT, a manufactur- er of engineered metalforming machinery for wire flattening and shaping and other appli- cations. The QPI machine-tool operation also comprises Mul- tipress (hydraulic and electric presses) and Pacific Press (hydraulic press brakes, press- es and shears).
Three brands of Stanley Engineered Fastening, Shel- ton, CT, have earned General Motors Supplier Quality Excel- lence Awards: Dodge threaded inserts and compression lim- iters, Pop rivets and Gripco internally threaded nuts and assemblies.

The New Jersey Manufac- turing Extension Program, Inc. (NJMEP) has partnered with NJBIZ to launch the New Jer- sey Manufacturing Awards, to be presented as part of annu- al Manufacturing Day activi- ties. Among the awards is the Raymond Hopp Award for Excellence, in memory of Ray- mond Hopp, former owner and CEO of metalformer HK Metal- craft Mfg. Corp., Lodi, NJ. Hopp, who passed away Janu- ary 14, 2014, also served as Chairman of the Precision Metalforming Association (in 1996) and played a leader- ship role in numerous PMA activities. The inaugural Ray- mond Hopp Award for Excel- lence was presented to Hopp’s family—his wife Nancy and sons Charlie and Josh, president of Metalcraft.
Metalformer EJ Ajax & Sons, Fridley, MN, has taken delivery of a pair of 220-ton Aida single-point servo gap- frame presses (model DSF-C1- 2000), and is working to get the presses installed and up to speed. Private investment and management company The Mifsud Group, Cleveland, OH, has acquired precision metal fabricator Montana Metal Products, Des Plaines, IL. Associated Tube Group (ATG), a supplier of stainless- steel and high-nickel-alloy tubular products in straight lengths and coils, has earned a 2014 GM Supplier Quality Excellence Award. The award, ATG’s third in a row dating back to 2012 when General Motors established the pro- gram, recognizes excellence in quality, on-time delivery, cus- tomer support and other crite- ria. ATG supplies GM with direct injection drawn-over- mandrel tubing for its Gen 5 truck and SUV engines.

Worthington Specialty Pro- cessing (WSP) has ordered a coil-fed laser-blanking system from LaserCoil Technologies LLC, Perrysburg, OH, for its facility in Jackson, MI. The 2100-mm-wide dual-head line features a pair of 6-kW lasers, and will boost the firm’s capacity to blank advanced high-strength steels. Also included is leveling equipment provided by Automatic Feed Co., Napoleon, OH.
