During a special ceremony held on Jan- uary 6, 2014, AWS, Miami, FL, presented an Extraordinary Welding Award to the Times Square New Year’s Eve ball, a 12-ft.-dia. welded-aluminum geodesic sphere that weighs nearly 12,000 lb.
