Heattreater Looks to Set Up in the Southeast U.S.
Commercial vacuum heat- treater Solar Atmospheres Inc., which operates two facil- ities in Pennsylvania and one in California, announced plans to open a facility in the southeast United States. The attraction: the region’s high concentration of aerospace and automotive companies and their Tier One and Two suppliers.
MMI Cuts Ribbon on Maryland HQ
Stevensville, MD is the new headquarters location
of Michigan Manufacturing International (MMI), a sup- plier of stampings, machined parts, castings, gears, assemblies and more. The November 21, 2013 ribbon-cutting ceremo- ny was attended by numer- ous local dignitaries, includ- ing Senator Steve Hershey.
MMI serves customers in the appliance, electric power equipment, fluid power, med- ical equipment, on- and off- shore oil drilling equipment and other industries.
Rollformer Plans Multi-Million-Dollar Expansion
Custom rollformer OMCO, Wickliffe, OH, announced plans to expand and add equipment to its facility in Pierceton, IN, to the tune of $6.7 million.
Slated for completion by late 2015, the project includes adding 42,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space to its existing 85,000-sq.-ft. layout, the addition of new rollforming lines, and the redesign of existing lines to improve flexibility and reduce lead times.
Tailout Feeders Retrofitted at Tier Two Auto Supplier
ARJ Manufacturing, Jack- son, TN, a Tier 2 and 3 sup- plier of seats and other inte- rior automotive components, has retrofitted tailout feeders from Coe Press Equipment, Sterling Heights, MI, to three coil lines feeding 500-ton progressive-die presses. The feeders, floor-mounted between each press and existing servo-feed, can
retract to 38.5 in. during die changes, and extend to 56.25 in. for close position- ing to the die when the lines run. Adding the secondary feeders has reduced scrap and overcome handling issues.
