Medical-Manufacturing Facility Adds
Five-Axis Lathe, Nine-Axis CNC Lathe
The Okay Industries med- ical-products manufacturing facility in Berlin, CT, has added two new machines to its production floor—a Miyano BND 51 five-axis lathe with twin spindles and live turret tooling; and a Tsugami SS207 5AX nine- axis Swiss machine with fully programmable B axis, for cAontouring and sculpting parts in one operation. The
firm recently earned ISO 13485 registration for the Berlin facility as well as for its facility in New Britain, CT, and its Costa Rica facility recently earned ISO 9000- 2008 registration.
Specialty-Alloy Processor Adds Turret Head Slitter
United Performance Met- als (UPM), Hamilton, OH, has added an 18-in. turret head slitter to its production facili- ty, capable of slitting coiled stock from 0.020 to 0.125 in. thick. Compared to exist- ing slitters, UPM expects the new machine to reduce setup times, increase line speeds and optimize opera- tor efficiency. The slitter boasts a pressure bar sys- tem that eliminates scratch- ing and minimizes camber,
and an interchangeable rewind drum. UPM processes stainless-steel, nickel-, cobalt-, aluminum- and titani- um-based alloys in sheet, coil, plate and bar.
