Plex Receives $30 Million in Venture Capital
Plex Systems, Auburn Hills, MI, provider of Plex Online cloud-based ERP services, has received a $30-million strategic investment from venture-capital and growth-equity firm Accel Partners. Says Accel partner Sameer Gandhi: “Plex Systems represents an opportuni- ty to help move a highly complex and diverse industry—manufacturing—to the next computing platform, based in the cloud. We believe the manufacturing ERP market represents at least a $5-bil- lion opportunity, and that less than
10 percent of the market has transi- tioned to SaaS so far.”
Lucas-Milhaupt Acquires Polish Maker of Metal Alloys
Brazing-materials supplier Lucas-Mil- haupt, Inc., Milwaukee, WI, has acquired Inmet Metal Processing, Gliwice, Poland. Inmet manufactures silver-, copper- and nickel-based materials in strip, wire, plate, anode and rivet form for special- ized applications including metal joining, electrical contacts and plating.

Lincoln Electric Acquires Welding-Automation Systems Integrator
Tennessee Rand, Inc., Chattanooga, TN, a provider of robotic-welding systems and tooling, has been acquired by Lin- coln Electric Holdings, Inc., Cleveland, OH. Tennessee Rand has annual sales of $35 million.
Hexagon Acquires U.S.-Based 3D Analysis-Software Company
Hexagon AB, a provider of design, measurement and visualization prod- ucts, acquired New River Kinematics (NRK), Williamsburg, VA, an engineering company specializing in 3D analysis software for portable metrology applica- tions. NRK’s Spatial Analyzer software finds use in single-part inspection appli- cations to large-scale multi-instrument surveys.

SolidWorks Honors Logopress and Accurate Die Design
Logopress Corp., Besancon, France, and its North American distributor and technical center Accurate Die Design, Inc., New Berlin, WI, has been named 2012 SolidWorks Partner of the Year. Logopress develops die-design software for the tool and die industry, as well as flattening software for various applica- tions. Accurate Die Design provides 3D die-design software, training and support to companies in the tool and die and metal-stamping industries, and is a reseller of software for forming simulation and analysis, and flat-blank prediction.

Investment Firm Acquires Precision Metal and Plastic Fabricator
Tenere, Inc., a custom stamper and fabricator with facilities in Lakewood, CO, and in Dresser, St. Croix Falls and Somerset, WI, has been acquired by The Watermill Group, a private-investment firm located in Lexington, MA. Tenere, which performs rapid prototyping and fabricates sheetmetal, injection-molded products and machined parts, also announced plans to add state-of-the-art equipment to its newest facility in St. Croix Falls, bring on a new CEO and hire as many as 100 new employees within the next year.
