Ontario Fabricator Adds Huge Waterjet Machine Boasting a 24- by 14-ft.
worktable, a new waterjet-cut- ting machine installed at China Steel, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, “opens up a whole new world for us, because there are so many things we are able to do,” says company vice president Carlo China. The machine stars a 100-hp 90-ksi water- jet system from Jet Edge; China Steel is a custom fab- rication and machine shop offering machining, milling, bending, cutting, robotic welding and other services.
Safety-Products Fabricator Now Offers Waterjet-Cutting Services
Rockford Systems, Inc., Rockford, IL, a supplier of machine-safeguarding equip- ment, has added a Flow Mach 3 waterjet-cutting machine to its shop to enhance its own production capabilities and provide cut- ting services as a job-shop fabricator. The machine boasts a 6- by 10-ft. bed and a 60,000-psi pump, and is rated for workpieces from 0.015 to 5 in. thick.
Robot Cuts Ribbon on New Robotics Factory
The Motoman Robotics Division of Yaskawa Ameri- ca, Inc. officially opened its new facility in Miamisburg, OH, last week. The 305,000-sq.-ft. facility com- bines the firm’s former headquarters operation in West Carrolton, OH, with a new 220,000-sq.-ft. manu- facturing plant, demonstra- tion area and warehouse formerly located in Troy, OH. Included are eight training classrooms and a laborato- ry. In a fitting display of advanced robotic technolo- gy, Motoman had a dual-arm robot perform the ribbon- cutting ceremony.
