Ross Controls Receives
Updated Pneumatic
Safety Product Certification
The DM Series C pneumatic double-valve family of products from Ross Controls, Troy, MI, has received third- party certification to ISO 13849-1:2006 (Safety of Machin- ery, Safety-Related Parts of Control Systems), which
replaced the EN 954-1 standard on November 30. DM-series valves are used to exhaust downstream air to help meet stop-time requirements in machine-guarding applications. Also, the valves will be labeled with the CE mark to comply with the new EU machinery directive that went into effect on
December 29.

Through OSHA’s Alliance Program, this checklist was devel- oped for informational purposes only, as a product of the OSHA and The Association for High Technology Distribution Alliance. It is recommended that the following checkout procedures be performed by a qualified person during initial light-curtain instal- lation and at least every three months (or more frequently, depending on machine-usage and company guidelines). A “qual- ified person” is defined by ANSI/PMMI B155.1-2006 as an indi- vidual who “understands, is trained on, and demonstrates com- petence with the construction, operation or maintenance of the machinery and the hazards involved.”
