Dallas Industries Acquired
Advanced FeedLines, LLC, Troy, MI, a new man- agement company specializ- ing in pressroom equip- ment, has acquired Dallas Industries. Dallas president Joseph Gentilia is a manag- ing partner of Advanced FeedLines.
Dallas produces press- feed and coil-handling sys- tems, including servo-feed lines, air-feed systems, straighteners, and coil cra- dles and reels.
One Waterjet Manufacturer Acquires Another
Jet Edge, Inc., St. Michael, MN, acquired Calypso Systems, Dallas, TX, which had exited the waterjet industry early last year. Jet Edge plans to rein- troduce several Calypso products—described by the company as “entry-level solutions for price-con- scious buyers”—under Calypso’s brand names.

Worthington Industries Opens JV Facility
in Mexico
Steel-processing compa- ny Worthington Industries, Columbus, OH, has opened a greenfield steel-process- ing plant in the Monterrey region in Escobedo, Mexico. The facility is Worthington’s third in Mexico completed with its joint-venture part- ner the Serviacero Group; Serviacero Worthington also
has operations in central Mexico, in Leon and Queretaro.
Phase One of the Mon- terrey plant is a 65,000- sq.-ft. facility with a 72- by 1⁄2-in. slitting line and an automated packaging line; Phase Two will include a cut-to-length line.
Beckhoff Automation Expands in the Carolinas
Beckhoff Automation LLC, Burnsville, MN, a sup- plier of PC-based controls, industrial PCs, automation controllers, servo drives and motors, opened a new sales and engineering center in Charlotte, NC. It hired Ron Pryor, customer service engineer, and Les Queen, application engineer, to work at the new center, a 3000-sq.-ft. facility that includes a training room. It’s the firm’s seventh regional office in North America.

Automotive Group Launches Medical- Device Manufacturing Curriculum
The Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), South- field, MI, has launched an educational program to help suppliers make the transi- tion to medical-device man- ufacturing. Included in the curriculum:
• An introduction to ISO 13485, the quality-manage- ment system governing man- ufacture of medical devices and related services;
• Advanced product- quality planning;
• Failure modes and effects analysis;
• Measurement systems analysis and statistical- process control; and
• Problem solving and error proofing.
Mitsubishi EDM Provides New Machine to Oakland Community College
The Robotics/Automated Systems curriculum at Oak- land Community College (OCC), Auburn Hills, MI, received a boost thanks to the recent installation of a new Mitsubishi FA20S wire- EDM machine. OCC will use the machine to add wire and CNC EDM technology to its curriculum; Mitsubishi EDM, in Wood Dale, IL, will use the OCC center as its local training and demon- stration center.

Sick, Inc., Minneapolis, MN, a manufacturer of sen- sors, safety systems, machine- vision products and systems for logistics automation, has launched a new website at www.sickusa.com. The new site offers detailed product features, benefits and spec- ifications, and includes request-for-quote and buy- online functionality. Visitors can also read up on applica- tions for Sick’s products, seek spare parts, and access an improved service and support area for soft- ware downloads, training information and product support.
