Stretcher Levelers Added to Steel- Processing Lines to Flatten Material, Tackle Springback
Ratner Steel, Roseville, MN, installed a pair of stretcher levelers, from Red Bud Industries, Red Bud, IL, onto existing steel-pro- cessing lines. The new equipment improves stock flattening and relieves trapped stresses to eliminate the possibility of spring- back. One stretcher leveler can process material to 1⁄4 in. thick and 100,000-psi yield strength; the second unit can handle material to 1⁄2 in. thick and 75,000-psi yield strength (3⁄8 in. thick and 100,000-psi yield).
Dayton Rogers Under New Ownership
Dayton Rogers, Min- neapolis, MN, a privately held metalforming company with six U.S. regional manu- facturing locations, announced that company president Ron Lowry has acquired the company from the Seeger family. The firm, which began as a supplier of short-run metal stamp- ings, performs sheetmetal fabrication, machining, and metal stamping, as well as rapid prototyping and assembly.
HVAC Sheetmetal Fabricator Adds 4-kW Laser-Cutting Machine
M&M Manufacturing Co. has installed a Mazak Hypergear 2D FMS laser- cutting system at its Preci- sion Products Division in
Fort Worth, TX. The machine, from Mazak Optonics Corp., Elgin, IL, features a 4-kW laser to cut mild steel to 1 in. thick, as well as a material-storage tower for holding and retrieving as many as 10 different sheet specifications.
A pneumatic load system positions each sheet on the cutting table—with material loaded in the tower, the setup can run untended for complete shifts or over the weekend.
Waterjet-System Builder Expanding Operations
Flow International Corp., headquartered in Kent, WA, plans to spend more than $2.4 million in improve- ments and equipment to expand its operations in Jef- fersonville, IN.
The company makes ultrahigh-pressure waterjet- cleaning and abrasive- waterjet-cutting machines. The expansion follows the firm’s recent award of a multimillion-dollar contract from Airbus.

The two companies, combined fully, have been renamed Wauke- sha Metal Products. Man-
agement expects to hire additional employees at both of its facilities—20 new employees in the fabri- cation department and 15 in stamping.
Fuchs Acquires Manufacturer of Forging Lubricants
Fuchs Lubricants Co., Harvey, IL, a manufacturer of specialty lubricants and chemicals for metalworking applications, acquired Dylon Industries, Inc., Cleveland, OH.

Indy Community College Launches New Manufacturing- Education Program
National Tooling and Machining Association Chairman Ron Overton told those attending the ribbon- cutting opening ceremony for the advanced manufac- turing lab at Ivy Tech Com- munity College in Indi- anapolis, IN, that “the manufacturing workforce of the future will need techni- cal skills as well as an apti- tude for troubleshooting in a team environment.”
That’s the mission of a new Ivy Tech program, described in a recent article in The Indianapolis Star, which will offer an associate’s degree and train students in
