 Electronics Manufacturer Acquires Metal-Alloy Producer
Ametek, Inc., Paoli, PA, a manufacturer of electronic instruments and electro- mechanical devices, acquired Reading Alloys, Robesonia, PA, a privately held niche specialty-metals producer. Reading Alloys, which produces titanium master alloys and engineered metal powders, joins Ametek’s electromechanical group.

West Virginia to Welcome New Galvanizing Plant
North American Galvanizing & Coatings, Inc., Tulsa, OK, will construct its 11th hot-dip galvanizing plant in Benwood, WV. The plant was scheduled to begin pro- duction in late April, to serve customers in the greater Pittsburgh and western PA areas.
The firm is renovating an existing building to house the plant, which will employ approximately 20 people.

To increase its capacity to supply thin-gauge flat metal parts, from prototype to production, Advanced Metal Etching, Inc., Ligonier, IN, has completed a facility expan- sion with new equipment and an optimized workflow to increase capacity by 70 per- cent. Doerken Corp. USA, a manufacturer of corrosion-protection coatings, has com- pleted its new North American headquarters and technical center in Grass Lakes, MI. Processing Plant
Friedman Industries, Inc., Houston, TX, has opened a new coil-processing plant in Decatur, AL, to convert hot-rolled coils received from the adjacent Nucor Steel Co. mill into hot-rolled sheet and plate. The new 48,000-sq.-ft. plant houses temper-pass- ing and leveling equipment to provide con- sistently flat material and tight tolerances. Friedman also operates a coil-processing plant in Hickman, AR, and a tubular-prod- ucts facility in Lone Star, TX.

 Rolled Alloys Expands Portfolio via UK Acquisition
Rolled Alloys, Temperance, MI, a provider of heat- and corrosion-resistant alloys and branded stainless steels, has acquired Weir Materials, Manchester, England. The new company, RA Materials, will offer Weir’s Zeron 100 alloy, a high-strength corrosion-resist- ant super-duplex stainless steel. Zeron 100—25 Cr, 7 Ni, 3.5 Mo—is supplied as seam- less and welded pipe, butt-weld fittings, forged flanges, plates, bars and welding con- sumables. It’s also available as custom-made pipes, tubes, fittings, forgings, wires, fasteners and machined parts to order. It is used in the oil and gas, desalination, chemical pro- cessing, pollution control and mining industries.
