Upcoming Seminar/Virtual Event: Die Maintenance and Troubleshooting
 October 19-20, PMA Headquarters, Independence, OH
The two-day Die Maintenance and Trou- bleshooting seminar—available to attendees as an in-person event as well as online— will detail solutions to problems encountered during die maintenance, and provide die design tips and problem-solving method- ologies for improving die-maintenance pro- grams and reducing unplanned downtime. Also covered: fundamentals of vacuum heat treating, including material properties of tool steels, surface treatment, vacuum oil quenching and more.
Learn more about types of maintenance
programs and their effectiveness; impact of press selection and press maintenance on die-maintenance cost; importance of proper cutting clearance; tool-steel selec- tion and heat treating practices to optimize die life and machine uptime; improper die-setting practices that lead to damaged dies and presses, and produce inconsistent part quality; and data-driven approaches for solving press-shop problems. And, attendees will learn solutions and trou- bleshooting techniques for real-world die- maintenance issues.
Presenters include Pete Ulintz, PMA technical director and author of Metal-
Forming magazine’s Tooling By Design column; and Tim Steber, regional sales manager for Solar Atmospheres.
The price to attend the seminar—in- person or virtually—is $449 for PMA mem- bers and $649 for nonmembers, with breakfast and lunch included for in-person attendees. Upcoming Webinar: Transfer Automation
November 17, Webinar, 12 noon-3 p.m.
A multi-speaker webinar, PMA’s Transfer Automation event will highlight transfer- process capabilities and tooling technology, and how transfer systems are used to increase production efficiency. The webinar will cover all manner of die-, plate- and press-mounted transfer technologies; two and three-axis systems; and power via mechanical, pneumatic, servo-motor, lin- ear-motor and combination means.
In addition to selection criteria and an ROI example, attendees will hear from experts on the advantages and limitations of various transfer technologies, real- world examples of transfer systems in action, and simulation technologies. And, experts will discuss press- and transfer- system motion optimization, part-posi- tioning considerations and optimization, as well as establishing a process recipe.
Presenters include Corey Chamberlain, T-Sim Solutions owner and developer;
