Nonferrous Double-Sheet Detector in Three Models
Prime Controls, Dayton, OH, introduces the DS600 double-sheet detection control. When paired with a noncontact, single-probe sensor, it detects nonferrous sheetmetal from 0.025 to 3.81 mm thick. By measuring the effects of eddy currents on the nonferrous sheet near its face, the DS600 can detect the sheet’s thick- ness and prevent double sheets or excessively thick material from entering presses and other
effectors and transfer-press fingers,” says Ben Pauzus, global product manager, end effectors. “Lighter solutions that offer higher holding power give customers the best opportunity to increase throughput. And, the polyurethane material is more durable allowing for fewer PM cycles and less downtime.”
double-sheet detectors, the DS600 system does not need to make contact with the mate- rial it measures, helping to avoid sur- face defects to the product. Housed in an IP65-rated enclosure, the DS600 is thoroughly protected in the typical shopfloor environment. It’s well-suited for automation applications such as robotics, automated destackers, sheet feeders
Mate Precision Tooling, Anoka, MN, introduces Fiber Shield Windows, designed to provide maximum protection and increase the lifetime of precision lenses in laser systems. They shield valuable
and in-fixture (Poke-A-Yoke) where sensing from only one side is possible.
Three versions of the control are available. The basic DS600 model suffices for simply detecting whether a single or double sheet is present. The DS600 Premium is a hands-off product offering eight-slot calibration memory, easily selected through discrete I/O, for quick changeovers with no recalibration required. This model also provides threshold adjustments and variable timing during the detection process for better gauging of thickness. Finally, to meet the growing demand for communication capability among system controls, the DS600 PremiumPLUS features industrial com-
machines.

New Vacuum Cups Offer Improved Traction for High-Speed Transfer Duty
optic components in laser-beam delivery systems from debris, fumes and other pollutants during the cutting process.
Destaco, Auburn Hills, MI, has launched its new Accelerate collection of vacuum cups, made of a wide range of aluminum end-effector com- ponents and offering improved trac- tion, enhanced durability and higher throughput for high-speed transfer- press applications. The vacuum cups feature an antislip tread pattern made from a high-performance polyurethane material for superior holding on oily surfaces.
Fiber Shield Windows are made of high- quality fused silica to protect lenses from damaging back spatter and debris. They have tight-tolerance surfaces, diameter and edge thickness, with clear apertures for maximum absorption and reflection. To ensure quality laser cutting, the windows feature a robust coating that protects against dross, oils and airborne particulates. OEM approved, they are available in diam- eters from 0.47 to 2.17 in.
“As manufacturers look to improve production rates, lightweighting becomes increasingly important, especially as it relates to automation tooling such as end
