At Great Designs in Steel 2017, held May 17 in Livonia, MI, Volvo Car Corp.’s body-structure team received the Steel Market Development Institute’s Automotive Excellence Award for its advanced high-strength steel innovations in the 2016 Volvo XC90. The award recognizes those who make significant contributions to the advancement of steel in the automotive industry. The body-structure team at Volvo was honored for its scalable product architecture, developed new for the XC90, which reduced body mass without sacrificing strength.
