Tools and Coating for Fabrication Equipment

Tuesday, September 15, 2015

Mate Precision Tooling Mate Precision Tooling has introduced its SuperMax proprietary coating, specifically formulated for punch-press tooling. Applied using the latest nano-layer technology, SuperMax’s hard, dense film, as compared to competing coatings, according to company officials, increases wear resistance and has a lower friction coefficient. Lower friction means less heat buildup and galling, and longer tool life. SuperMax works in a range of materials including aluminum; cold-rolled, galvanized and stainless steels; vinyl-coated material; and fiberglass.

Mate also has introduced bevel-tang-style press-brake tooling, for use in newer Amada-style press brakes. Reportedly enabling more rapid and safer tool changes, this tooling features a punch tang geometry that is compatible with punch clamping systems requiring a beveled receiving surface.
