The Hitachi Foundation has produced an extremely informative and interesting 5:48-min.-long video telling the tale of the Marlin Steel Wire, Baltimore, MD. Recognized as a Pioneer Employer by the foundation in partnership with the Precision Metalforming Association, Marlin Steel Wire faced, in the early 2000s, the possibility of shutting down. The video gives an inside look at how president Drew Greenblatt and his team turned the business around—eight consecutive years of growth, enabling it to expand beyond fabricating bagel-baking baskets to supplying leading OEMs like Boeing and Caterpillar.

The essence of its transformation, says Greenblatt: “Quality, engineered quick.” Watch as employees explain the firm’s innovative skills matrix, and how they are incentified to learn new skills and hit production goals.
