SME, Dearborn, MI, named Jeffrey M. Krause executive director and chief executive officer, effective December 15, 2014. Krause joins SME from Intraco, where he served as vice president of operations. He also has held various manufacturing, sales and strategy roles at Delphi and General Motors. Krause will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of SME, while leading day-to-day operations and working closely with customers and stakeholders. He will also oversee its strategic business units, including Tooling U-SME, Advanced Manufacturing Media, the SME Education Foundation, SME’s Events and Membership.

Batesville Tool & Die (BTD), Batesville, IN, promoted Dave Lynch from tooling manager to vice president of tooling. During his 25-yr. stint at the company, Lynch also has served as a die-maintenance associate and tooling group leader, and helped establish the toolroom at Troqueladora Batesville de Mexico, in Queretaro.

Yamada Dobby America, Harrisburg, NC, hired Shawn Toman as a field service technician.

Contract metal fabricator Jor-Mac Company, Lomira, WI, appointed Jon Hintz director of business development.

Mazak Optonics, Elgin, IL, a supplier laser-cutting systems, named Art Weinerman regional sales manager for the Southeastern United States. He’ll cover Virginia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgie and Florida.

Coldwater Machine Co., Coldwater, OH, appointed Robert Rich as director of its new Solid State Joining Center. The firm designs, builds and integrates specialized manufacturing equipment including precision machining and welding/joining systems. Rich will oversee the joining center’s initiatives related to new-business development, market expansion, staff development and quality control.
