Alcoa Grant to Fuel Vehicle-Lightweighting Research

The Center for Automotive Research (CAR) has received a $175,000 grant from Alcoa Foundation to support CAR’s research into technologies for the lightweighting of vehicles. Research efforts focus on cost-benefit analysis of designing with lightweight materials, and on advanced forming and joining processes. The grant also will support an effort by internship students to collect manufacturing case-study data.
