Detroit Tool Metal to Train Hundreds in Robotic Welding

Ozarks Technical Community College (OTC), Springfield, MO, has partnered with Detroit Tool Metal Products Co., Lebanon, MO, to directly support job training for as many as 250 Detroit Tool employees.
Detroit Tool, due to its plans to close its manufacturing plant in Fort Madison, IA, by year’s end and consolidate operations in Lebanon, expects to hire an additional 225 at its Lebanon facility by the end of 2010.
OTC will offer Detroit Tool employees a robotic-welding-specific course in advanced manufacturing, to help the firm establish a new engineering center with an emphasis on tooling design, product improvement, improved manufacturing processes, product qualification and new-product design.
