Recently released data from the American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association (AMTDA) and AMT—The Association for Manufacturing Technology shows that while November 2005 machine-tool orders slumped 2.5 percent versus October orders and were nearly 7 percent off of November 2004 orders, orders for the year (through November) totaled $2.77 billion, an increase of 8.3 percent over 2004. For the year, the midwest (up 21.9 percent) and southern (up 19.1 percent) regions were strongest for machine-tool orders.
