Two More Toyota Plants Coming Ashore

Tuesday, November 7, 2006

A Japanese newspaper recently reported that Toyota Motor Corp. plans to build two more assembly plants in North America toward the end of the decade. The firm is considering building a plant in the Midwest to assemble Yaris compact cars, beginning in 2009 and with a capacity of 200,000 units. It’s also going to build a sport-utility-assembly plant, by 2010. Final location decisions for the two plants should be announced by year’s end.
