Metrology Companies Form
Software-Development Pact

Monday, January 27, 2003

Renishaw plc and Metrologic Group have signed a software-development agreement whereby Metrologic Group will develop its Metrolog II software to run on Renishaw’s UCC1 universal coordinate-measuring-machine (CMM) controller platform. In addition, Renishaw will use the new software in its worldwide demonstration facilities. The partnership, according to officials from both companies, allows users of Metrologic software to take advantage of the controller, which reportedly optimizes the CMM/probe sensor interface for maximum part-checking speed and accuracy. Using the UCC1, speeds in excess of 300 mm/sec. can be achieved. Metrologic, Grenoble, France, has offices in the United States, Germany and Italy. Renishaw has a U.S. office in Hoffman Estates, IL.
