Robot Sales Tick Upward

Friday, May 17, 2002

The North American robotics industry showed signs of stabilizing in the first quarter of 2002, according to data from the Robotic Industries Association, Ann Arbor, MI. Through March, North American customers ordered 2350 robots, a 1-percent increase over first-quarter 2001 orders. Weakness in overseas sales by North American robotics companies, however, led to an overall 2-percent decline in new orders for the quarter. RIA reports relatively strong robot sales for spot welding, arc welding, dispensing and coating applications. Gain complete details at www.roboticsonline.com.
