Thursday, October 10, 2002

On October 3, Cold Metal Products announced that it was investigating the possibility of permanently reopening its plant in Indianapolis. IN. Under an agreement with the United Steelworkers of America, the firm rehired 13 hourly employees and restarted manufacturing operations on a temporary basis. The agreement enables the plant to operate for 60 days while it and the union negotiate a new labor contract. The plant had closed on August 15, one day before the firm filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
