Punch-Laser Combo Processes Larger Sheet Sizes
October 2, 2024Comments
Murata Machinery USA, Inc. celebrates 50 yr. of automation offerings in North America at FABTECH by showcasing its MF30510HL combination punch press and fiber laser cutting machine. Combining turret-punch-press and fiber-laser processes, it was developed in response to requests for a machine to process larger sheet sizes than the Muratec MF3048HL. The MF30510HL features an expanded work size of 5 by 10 ft. and a punching capacity of 30 metric tons.
The combo machine streamlines operations by merging punching, laser cutting, forming, tapping, deburring and more, with its 4-kW fiber laser output enabling efficient processing of a range of sheet materials and thicknesses, according to company officials. Teaming the machine with Muratec’s automation systems, including the FG series parts-sorting system (see video), further enhances production efficiencies.
Key machine features: integrated four-station rigid tapping unit; vibration-free laser operation; retractable bottom dies to enable laser cutting and punching operations while reducing the chance of scratching and catching; and accelerated real-time monitoring and control of laser cutting operations.
