SC Technical College Adds Advanced Manufacturing Training to Georgetown

Horry-Georgetown Technical College in Conway, SC, in response to new opportunities for advanced manufacturing jobs, is adding a 30,000-sq.-ft. training center. Beginning this fall, students will learn welding, machine tooling, robotics and other skills necessary for roughly 240 new jobs coming online from new and existing companies such as Georgetown, SC-based pump manufacturer EnviroSep, and Peddinghaus Corp., a metal working and fabrication firm in Andrews, SC.

The center will house as many as 30 welding booths and more than $2 million in mechatronics and machine tool equipment. Financial aid and scholarships will be available for students. In addition, companies may utilize the center for training.
