Direct Metals Supplies Aluminum Expanded Metal to Fontainebleau Terrace

           Aluminum Etching Technology Gains Patent
Direct Metals, an international steel service center with locations in Kennesaw, GA, and Waukegan, IL, recently provided decorative, louvered, aluminum expanded metal to the Fontainebleau Terrace in Panama City Beach, FL.
Houghton International Inc. and Houghton Technical Corp. gained a U.S. patent for its aluminum acid-etching tech- nology, formulated to provide a premium matte finish at low gloss values with min- imum aluminum dissolution. The tech- nology is said to significantly reduce etch time, cut waste sludge by more than 50 percent and perform at lower temperatures as compared to conventional caustic etch- ing. This process provides a uniform matte finish, hides extrusion lines and is not
The hotel used 6865 sq. ft. of aluminum expanded metal for all of its railings. The material was custom cut into 431 pieces and powder-coated turquoise blue RAL5018. The material’s diamond pattern provides an aesthetically pleasing design while ensuring security and privacy, con- trolling heat, light and visibility, and improv- ing ventilation, say Direct Metals officials.
