Handheld, Portable Coating-Thickness Measurement

UPA Technology, West Chester, OH, has introduced the Dermitron EM portable instrument that uses phase-sensitive eddy-current technology for measuring plating and coating thickness. The versatile, handheld Dermitron EM accurately measures the thickness of zinc/Fe, Cd/Fe, vacuum metallization, anodizing, and many other types of plating and coatings. It can be used in harsh environments, including directly on plating lines, as well as in a quality lab or receiving-inspection area.

Calibration is done using a set of certified plated calibration standards provided by UPA. Once the instrument has been calibrated it’s ready to measure without requiring operators to make additional calibrations for different measurement tasks.
