Additive Industries, VanBerlo Awarded for Printer Design
July 1, 2016Comments
Along with its industrial design partner VanBerlo, Additive Industries has won the prestigious Red Dot Award for MetalFab1, its industrial 3D metal-printing system. VanBerlo designed the exterior of the machine, reflecting the advanced technology and industrial character. The MetalFab1’s modular design allows for customer- and application-specific process configuration. Multiple build chambers with individual integrated powder handling allow the printer to combine as many as four materials simultaneously in one machine. The system also includes a furnace for integrated stress-relief heattreatment.
“Design is often overlooked but crucial for a successful acceptance of new technology like 3D metal printing,” says Daan Kersten, co-founder and CEO of Additive Industries. “I’m confident that the design of both the equipment and the transparent user interface have contributed greatly to the early sales of our MetalFAB1 systems.”
