Coming January 13, 2026, starting at 9 am ET: a webinar titled Effect of Substrate Composition on Liquid Metal Embrittlement (LME) Susceptibility in 3rd Gen AHSS. Presented by Jake Colburn, from the Colorado School of Mines, the webinar is part of the Great Designs in Steel webinar series.
Up for discussion: An overview of how substrate alloying elements, specifically silicon and aluminum, affect the LME susceptibility of 3rd Gen AHSS during resistance spot welding. The testing, characterization and analysis used to evaluate the influence of silicon and aluminum content on LME behavior also will be discussed.
