PMA presents Maximizing the Performance of High-Speed Stamping, a webinar sponsored by Stamtec and Principal, from noon to 3:30 p.m. ET on August 7. The webinar will provide attendees with fundamentals of high-speed press applications, and the construction of a high-speed press along with its relationship to stamping die performance. Also on the agenda: die-specific topics such as stripper-plate design and piloting methods.

Kicking off the webinar is René Zwahlen, operations manager (Huntsville) at Bruderer Machinery Inc. and president of Sangiacomo Presses Americas. He will provide an overview of high-speed presses, noting that they can operate at speeds of 2000 strokes/min. and greater. At such production speeds, dynamic forces and thermal influences dramatically affect the stamping process. Zwahlen’s presentation examines mechanisms to counteract these influences and explains why these types of presses are more precise than conventional stamping presses.

Following, author of MetalForming’s Tooling By Design column and industry consultant Peter Ulintz of Pace Technologies, LLC, will delve into specific aspects of high-speed stamping, stressing that achieving maximum performance from high-speed stamping operations requires a higher level of attention to detail than with traditional stamping processes. Ulintz’ presentation will discuss stripper-plate design, forming methods, piloting and other recommendations for achieving smooth feeding of thin materials at high speeds.

The price to attend this webinar is $99 for PMA members and $199 for nonmembers. Registrants will receive a link to the presentation recording after the webinar. For more details and to register, or contact Marianne Sichi, 216/901-8800 ext. 150.
