Canada’s Surge in Defense Spending to Create Opportunities for Tier Suppliers
November 10, 2025Comments
In this special report from Boston Consulting Group (BCG), learn how a C$1.2 trillion boost in military spending over the next decade will be a catalyst for growth and innovation across Canada’s industrial base. Top spending priorities, BCG says, are expected to be for destroyers, submarines, aircraft, surveillance systems, and both military and dual-use infrastructure. Nearly 85% of the new defense-platform spending remains to be contracted, and an estimated 30% of that will be open to nondefense companies.
Three types of companies are poised to seize the opportunities: defense primes—major contractors responsible for designing, integrating, and delivering complete defense platforms; Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers of specialized equipment and components; and infrastructure firms.
