PMA presents Press Maintenance, Troubleshooting and Safety, an in-person and virtual seminar sponsored by Stamtec and Principal, June 18-19 at PMA headquarters in Independence, OH. The seminar helps press operators, die setters, engineers and maintenance personnel understand what a stamping press is designed to do, who to determine if a problem is with the tool or the press, and how to make adjustments quickly in the die space to isolate press problems from the tool. Instructors: Jeff Fredline, president of Prestrade Co., Morristown, TN, and Dean Phillips, PMA’s director of technical training.

Specifically, attendees will be trained in maximizing uptime, even with less-than-perfect machinery; safe metal-stamping-press operations; design and usage of stamping presses; and efficient and practical preventive-maintenance inspection procedures. And, they’ll learn the Theory of the Box.

Seminar highlights include Event + Response to event = Outcome—how to implement this in the press room; understanding mechanical and servo press technology; basic maintenance training for press operation and die setting; terminology overview  and review of specific maintenance points and procedures; troubleshooting press systems; and much more.

Key safety-related topics to be addressed include personal protective equipment, die blocks, energy isolation, lockout/tagout and the secret to OSHA’s ¼-in. rule for safeguarding the point of operation.

The price to attend in-person or virtually is $399 for PMA members and $599 for nonmembers, with breakfast and lunch included for in-person attendees as well as special hotel rates. For more details and to register, or contact Marianne Sichi, 216/901-8800 ext. 150.
